A Complete Guide To Disney World’s Tomorrowland

Disney World and the Magic Kingdom are filled with so much detail and so many things to see or do around every corner. For that reason I am breaking down the fun land by land. Here I take a look at Tomorrowland, one of the lands in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

Tomorrowland inspires thoughts of the future as imagined in the 60’s. The theming wants you to feel a sense of exploration, the future, aliens and adventure. So grab your jet pack and space suit and let’s head off to explore.

View From My Favorite Path To Tomorrowland

Location

First thing first, where will you find Tomorrowland. The land is in Magic Kingdom park. Walk straight down Main Street and as you approach the Castle hub turn right. There are two pathways that will lead to Tomorrowland. To take the first turn right towards The Plaza Restaurant and head past the Tomorrowland Terrace. This path will take you past a Disney World favorite photo spot the Purple Wall, this is the faster path. This path is my preferred pathway. The second is right off of the hub and is a bridge that will take you under the Tomorrowland sign and will give you a more iconic view entering the land. This land is a great location for it to be either the first or the last of the day.

You can also enter the land from the other side through Fantasyland.

Attractions

Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor

  • Any Height
  • Show
  • Lightning Lane Included With Genie+
  • Accessibility: May remain in wheelchair/ECV. Sign language, video captioning, assistive listening.

Watch a stand-up comedy show performed by the Monsters of Monstropolis. With real time interaction with the audience, this show has a little something extra, though introverts may find the live interaction anxiety producing. While I love Monster’s Inc. their presence in Tomorrowland is off-theme.

Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin

  • Any Height
  • Lightning Lane Included With Genie+
  • On Ride Photo
  • Accessibility: Must transfer to standard wheelchair and then to ride vehicle. Audio descriptions and handheld captioning.

A perfect ride for gammers or competitive groups. Ride though space and battle Emperor Zuirg with Buzz Lightyear as you use your laser gun to shoot targets throughout the ride. See if you can beat your ride partner. There are even hidden targets that will make you a “Galactic Hero”!

Astro Orbiter

  • Any Height
  • Accessibility: Must transfer from wheelchair/ ECV

Similar to the Dumbo attraction ride in a rocket ship as you circle high over Tomorrowland. You do have to board an elevator to get to the ride and it is truly high in the air. It takes Dumbo or the Magic Carpets of Aladdin up a notch.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

  • Any Height
  • Accessibility: Must be ambulatory. Audio captioning and handheld captioning.

A favorite of old school Disney World fans take a leisurely narrated ride through the skies of Tomorrowland and get a sneak peak of some other rides. But don’t worry there are no thrills here. You will even get a chance to see an authentic early concept model for EPCOT. A peaceful ride the whole family can enjoy.

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress

  • Any Height
  • Show
  • Accessibility: May remain in wheelchair/ECV. Video captioning, audio description, handheld captioning, assistive listening, language translation devices.

Watch the story of several generations fo the same family as they show the technological progression through the decades. The show is performed by animatronics and the theatre rotates. It is an acquired taste for a 21st century crowd. It is a slightly reworked version of the show that played at the 1964-1965 World’s Fair where the technology was cutting edge. Walt Disney was heavy involved in the attraction. If you are looking for Disney history this is the place to go in Magic Kingdom. If that is not of interest, it is a great place to cool off or for the smallest kids to grab a nap.

Space Mountain

  • 44” of taller
  • On Ride Photo
  • Individual Lightning Lane Avalibale
  • Accessibility: Must transfer to standard wheelchair and then to ride vehicle.

A Disney classic, an indoor roller coaster through space with lots of lighting effects. For those looking for thrills this is as big as they come at Magic Kingdom. However, the thrill level is still very manageable, and no loops here.

Tomorrowland Speedway

  • 32”or taller
  • Lightning Lane Included With Genie+
  • Accessibility: Must transfer from wheelchair/ ECV

A ride that feels like a real throwback but still a hit with kids. You will drive a small car around a track. While your foot on the peddle if propelling the car, the car is on a rail so you can only control it so much. This attraction is very old school but continues to be a hit with kids.

Food

Tomorrowland Terrace

  • Located in Tomorrowland
  • Lunch & Dinner
  • Food Style: American
  • Outdoor Seating
  • Seasonal – This location is often not open
  • Traditional theme park fare is served here. When this location is closed the seating is a great place to grab some shade, or if you packed a lunch to pull that out to eat. The views of the castle are lovely.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe     **My Favorite Quick Service In Magic Kingdom**

  • Located in Tomorrowland
  • Lunch & Dinner
  • Food Style: American
  • Mobile Order Available
  • Indoor Seating
  • Lots of traditional American quick service offerings in this outta-this-world location. I love it here for the 1/2 rotisserie chicken platter (dinner only) which is both a great deal and sharable and a bit healthier than some other options in the park, also for Sonny Eclipse the animatronic alien lounge singer who entertains the dinners. For families if your kids need some distractions while eating this can be a great choice to give parents a break.

Stands:

  • Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies – Ice cream treats
  • Cool Ship – Churros
  • The Lunching Pad – Slushies, pretzels and a few entree options.
  • Joffery’s  – Coffee and Tea

Characters

Buzz Lightyear – Meet Buzz on a stage between Space Ranger Spin and Carousel of Progress.

Shopping

Merchant of Venus:

  • Connected to Auntie Gravitiy’s
  • You will find a lot of merchandise related to the rides in Tomorrowland, meaning Toy Story, Monsters Inc. Plus Stitch, who used to have a ride, and is of corse an alien so he still belongs in Tomorrowland.

Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.:

  • Located next to Space Mountain
  • Space Mountain merch plus lots of MagicBands and Dtech items like phone cases.

Star Traders:

  • Located across from the Speedway and between Auntie Gravitiy’s and Cosmic Ray’s
  • Disney Parks merchandise with lots of clothing items

Pressed Pennies Locations

  • Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin (Between Buzz and Carousel of Progress)
  • Space Mountain
  • Star Traders
